South Bay Health Evangelism

“We have come to a time when every member of the church should take hold of medical missionary work.” 2T 62. Here is a call for Total Member Involvement. Fortunately, there are all sorts of ways to be involved in medical missionary work! Up to date, scientifically valid information shared by health professions is helpful. But even more important, optimal health evangelism emphasizes spiritual power as the only long-term guarantee of success. Health evangelism is also the easiest way to help every church member learn to make lasting friendships with nonSDAs. Small groups and mentor/mentee relationships naturally develop around discussion of shared interests in health.

At SouthBaySDA we’re blessed with a variety of programs. Dinner with the Doctor, a monthly meal and lecture following the lead from our mother church, East Ridge, is always enjoyed. Weekly programs are more intensive and problem focused. Our January-April “Best Weigh” program focuses on the public health problem we’re told is the “prevailing sin” of our time (1T 486.2). Other programs assist guests with reversal of hypertension and diabetes. Ask Dr. Inankur to come share “Diabetes Rewind” at your church! Regular cooking schools are a hit. A Dental Health program was enjoyed last year. And every fall the “Depression and Anxiety Recovery Program” helps with another major public health issue our communities face. Misc classes include microgreens and knife skills.

After each health program the guests are invited to a “Health Celebration Sabbath” service where the entire church service focuses on celebrating their successes and encouraging the congregation. They are frequently happy to give a report of the program, and most share that the successful spiritual behavior change model can benefit them in other areas of their lives. Recognizing sin in one’s life, trusting Jesus for power to change, claiming Bible promises and prayer to connect with heaven’s unlimited resources is the definition of conversion. This is true health evangelism.

Celebrating New Beginnings

As we reflect on the past two weeks, our hearts overflow with gratitude for the amazing blessings God has showered upon us in fulfilling the mission that Jesus entrusted to our community. The period leading up to Pentecost 2025 has been transformative, energizing, and filled with divine inspiration. From March 15 to March 30, the North Gwinnett and Central Lawrenceville SDA Churches joined forces to host powerful evangelistic campaigns, a labor of love led by the passionate Pastor Rainier Camejo of the Nebraska Conference and other dedicated leaders. These events have not only ignited spiritual growth within our congregations but have also opened the doors for new believers to step forward in faith. We are overjoyed to announce that, through these campaigns, we have welcomed 15 new souls into the Kingdom of God! Each baptism represents a profound commitment—an affirmation of faith—and we have celebrated these precious moments together as a family. The joy and hope reflected on the face...

From Kindness to Faith: The Inspiring Journey of Tuyambaze Irumva.

In a world where obstacles often overwhelm hope, the story of Tuyambaze Irumva exemplifies the profound impact of compassion and faith. Dr. Jean Nibigira, an evangelism coordinator at the  Atlanta Abahiriwe Seventh-Day Adventist Company , recounts how a simple act of kindness turned into a transformative spiritual journey for Irumva, a new believer who was baptized on March 15. Dr. Nibigira first crossed paths with Tuyambaze while assisting East African refugees settling in the United States through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. Faced with the trials of acclimating to a new environment, Irumva and his brother were anxious about an important job interview scheduled over an hour from their home—without transportation. Recognizing their plight, Dr. Nibigira extended a helping hand by inviting them to stay at his home and arranged for a colleague to provide them with transportation. During their stay, Dr. Nibigira took the opportunity to bond with Irumva and his brother through ...

The Power of Faith and Persistence: A Journey to Baptism

Sometimes, life's journeys take unexpected turns. Twenty years ago, I started Bible studies with a remarkable lady. We delved into the depths of our faith, but at that time, she hesitated to take the final step of baptism. Life whisked me away, and I lost touch with her. Yet, God had a plan that would bring our paths back together. Fast forward to a year ago, I found myself moving back to the same area where we first studied. Little did I know, the hand of God was at work. As I settled back into this familiar community, I crossed paths with my old friend. It was a divine reunion that reignited our spiritual connection. I felt compelled to ask her if she would be interested in studying again, and to my joy, she agreed. Armed with the support of a fellow church member, we embarked on a renewed journey of faith together. We explored Scripture, shared stories, and prayed. It was a beautiful experience filled with laughter, questions, and spiritual growth. Throughout our studies, I was ...
